A Day on the water out of Deep Creek near Ninilchik, Alaska. Because the tides were really ripping (usually when you have high highs or low lows) we were warned that the Halibut fishing would be difficult. Fish time was fairly short, but we were able to land enough to get more than a few good meals. Because the tides were so low, the clammers were out trying their luck for Razor clams.

Tractors are used to launch small boats out into the surf.I believe this is Mt Illiamna, an active volcano.A nice small Halibut on board and ready for the hold.Alaska Halibut We call these Skates.Like the Halibut, the skate has a white side and a camo side.Getting out of the water can be tricky in a strong tide.Hooked up and hauled out.More clammers. Drive up and start shoveling.Clammers are looking for signs in the sand. Often you will see a dimple or maybe a bubble.
